Cute cat warning: most images in this blog instalment feature Minette. She’s easier to spot in some photos than others.
Embarrassingly, we’ve only just found out that ‘Minette’ is a generic cat name in France, like Kitty in English. Nouchka, the name given by her previous owners, is only used in official situations such as visiting the vet.
Above: south aspect. Below: Minette displays her colour-co-ordination credentials.
There’s been some spring cleaning and reorganisation ahead of the Lindleys’ visit in March. Above: the garage is looking tidier than it has for years.
Below: a scarily deep, defunct well is now ready to be a raised herb bed. (In case you’re wondering, the well isn’t filled with earth all the way down. Most of it is packed with cut-up pieces of cypress wood.)
Don’t attempt to ‘spot the cat’ in this next one. It’s part of Circuit des Vergers, a public walking trail close to Les Bruyeres. The Narnia-esque gateway for walkers is provided by the landowner.
Below: Minette, the best tree-climbing cat I’ve ever met, shows off her skills against an evening sky.
Another sunset view (sans cat) …
… and how the evening ends. The Great Indoors.
Finally, the news from grandchild-land: Hazel has moved into a big bed, complete with mermaid, Minnie, and assorted critters …
… while Rory indulges in a spot of hero worship.
